Abstract
The concentration-concentration structure factor of the hard-sphere-Yukawa (HSY) system is calculated in the mean spherical approximation (MSA) and in the random-phase approximation (RPA). It is shown that the characteristic features of the experimental concentration-concentration structure factor of the liquid Li0.61Na0.39 alloy can be well described by the phase-separating HSY model. The RPA and MSA results are compared and it is found that the agreement is good provided the authors make a proper choice, in the former case, of the tail component of the potential within the core region.
