Abstract
Benign cystic teratomas of the ovary, the so-called dermoid cysts of the ovary, are the most common type of teratoma. They occur in women during the years of active ovulation, a fact that has suggested that these tumors might arise from a meiotic cell. This view has now been substantiated by the cytogenetic and isozymic studies of Linder et al. described in this issue of the Journal.Linder's present paper is the culmination of a series of studies. In his earlier publications,1 , 2 Linder demonstrated that tissues from ovarian teratomas were unique in that they were frequently homozygous at loci . . .Keywords
