Abstract
Since 1960, Quebecois politics has been marked by many manifestations of nationalism, the most radical of which is the demand for political independence. But what is the nature of this association ? Is it a feature of the times (" the air of the time "), of the life cycle (" the young will be young "), or of generation (" May 1968 ") ? With the aid of a detailed survey carried out in 1979, i.e. during the referendum campaign, the article cornes to the conclusion that all three effects co-exist and that there are very different sub-groups, particularly among the 18-24 and the 25-34 age groups. Keywords
