Abstract
Hypernasal speech led to the diagnosis of myotonic dystrophy in a 27-yr.-old man. Among the specific abnormalities pertinent to speech pathology were myopathic facial appearance, difficult and/or bizarre smile motions and speech impairment characterized by hypemasality, reduced speaking rate, and articulatory deterioration. Distinctive myotonic motor phenomena, muscular weakness, and patterns of motor compensation and diffusion were shown in the speech; cervical posture and feeding of this case. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
