Abstract
Phleum mottle virus (PMV) and six strains of cocksfoot mild mosaic virus (CMMV) have similar but not identical host-ranges and cause similar symptoms. The particles of PMV and CMMV type strain (CMMV-1) are indistinguishable in most properties, but differ slightly in RNA base composition and in electrophoretic mobility. Particles of PMV and the CMMVs are closely related serologically but not identical. CMMV and PMV are not members of any of the well-defined virus groups. Keywords
