Abstract
Ion chromatographic methods have been developed for the separation of aliphatic (RSO3−) and aromatic (ArSO3−) suifonates; alkyl sulfates (RoSO3−; aliphatic sulfamates (RNHSO3−); sulfonium compounds (R3 S+), and aromatic sulfinates (ArSO2−). The separations were performed using the normal bicarbonate/carbonate eluent system. A 0.001 M sodium bicarbonate eluent was especially useful for the separation of the aliphatic ionic sulfur compounds. The analytical application of a variable wavelength UV detector, in series with the normal conductivity detector, was also investigated. Keywords
