Abstract
Measurements of erythemal thresholds under various conditions are described. The threshold of a given individual varies considerably from time to time. Sweating, wetting with water, etc., have little effect on the threshold. The reciprocity law apparently holds for monochromatic radiation, but does not hold for polychromatic. An anlysis of factors determining the threshold is presented. The use of a standard erythema spectrum to compare the relative sensitivities of individuals to different kinds of polychromatic radiation is fallacious. Keywords
