Abstract
Recent experience with semiclassical approximations with wave packets make possible a new intuitive basis and new computational tools for incoherent neutron scattering. We review our approach in the context of others which have been proposed for neutron scattering, and we find it advantageous to launch semiclassical approximations from the Schrödinger picture rather than the Heisenberg picture of quantum mechanics. An application to a model for crystalline HCN is given. Keywords
