Abstract
Distoseptate, porogenous conidia distinguish Helminthosporium, Corynespora, and Exosporium from Vakrabeeja, Pleurophragmlum, and Sporidesmium with euseptate, blastogenous or murogenous conidia. Helminthosporium is provisionally maintained in a comprehensive sense for the subgenera Cylindro-Helminthosporium, Euhelminthosporium, and Helminthosporium. It should be redefined with Hmaydls as the type and conserved for sp. in the subgenera Cylindro-Helmlnthosporium and Euhelminthosporium characterized by semiaxial or lateral conidial germ tubes, lateral conidiophore proliferations, and pseudopleurogenous conidia. Spondylocladium should be conserved for spp. in Spondylocladium auct. and the subgenus Helmlnthosporium with percurrent conidial germ tubes, pleurogenous conidia, and infrequent percurrent conidiophore proliferations. Spp. with percurrent conidial germ tubes, acrogenous conidia, and variable conidiophore proliferations should be placed in Exosporium (syn. Corynespora). This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
