Melting and its relation to molecular orientations in the fluid and solid phases ofand C

Abstract
A comparison of recent melting data for , C, and Ar suggests that there probably is greater local orientational order in the dense fluid phases of and C than in their respective solids near melting. The possible nature of this local orientational order is discussed.
