Abstract
Numerical analyses of 46 samples of mature leaves of Celmisia spectabilis J. D. Hooker, taken from throughout the geographic range of the species and supported by independent data, are the basis of a revised infraspecific classification. Three varieties are recognised: var. spectabilis, var. lanceolata J. D. Hooker, and var. magnifica H. H. Allan. The status of other described varieties and of Celmisia ruahinensis W. Colenso is assessed and where necessary lectotypes are selected. Numerical analyses are based on hierarchical classificatory techniques embodied in the ASSORT package. Keywords
