Abstract
A recent experience with rapid prototyping at Sandia National Laboratories, using stereolithography and selective laser sintering equipment, as part of a technology transfer program to produce a bicycle crank arm for a local bike shop is described. A process for creating a wax model in only five days, versus several months by traditional methods, is sketched. An experience at Sundstrand Aerospace's Electric Power Systems Division with rapid prototyping of part of an aircraft's variable-speed, constant-frequency electric system is also cited. Keywords
