Abstract
A1 and A1B individuals possess exceptional cells having the phenotype of subgroup A2 or A2B. Suitable reagents for recognition of the subgroup in isotope dilution experiments are provided by the seed extracts of Dolichos biflorus, specific for A1, and Phaseolus limensis, which agglutinates both A1 and A2 cells. Results of agglutina-tion tests with the blood of an A1 donor ana 2 A1B donors are given. The individuals tested not only possessed some cells lacking in A ag-glutinogen but a larger number in which A1 was lacking and A2 present. The origin of these exceptional cells is unknown. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
