Abstract
Recent research results suggest that the risk of breast cancer can be reduced. In this review I will focus on chemoprevention, emphasizing evidence from randomized clinical trials, and in addition summarize the evidence regarding preventive strategies involving surgery and lifestyle changes (Table 1).ChemopreventionTamoxifen and Risk ReductionThe risk of breast cancer is related to levels of endogenous1,2 and exogenous35 hormones. Tamoxifen and raloxifene, which are selective estrogen-receptor modulators, can be used to test the hypothesis that the risk of breast cancer can be reduced by estrogen antagonists.6 Tamoxifen is active against advanced breast cancer7 and is . . .Keywords
