Abstract
Extract In human urology, the association of metabolic disorders and urolithiasis is well established ( Higgins and Straffen, 1963 Albritton, E. C. 1952. Standard Values in Blood, 103–103. Philadelphia and London: W. B. Saunders. [Google Scholar] ). Consequently, the determination of serum electrolytes are routinely undertaken in urolithiasis patients. In dogs, the incidence of metabolic disorders and their association with urolithiasis is unknown. In order to elicit whether such disorders are involved in the genesis of canine urolithiasis, the serumlevels of calcium, inorganic phosphorus, magnesium and urea were determined in a series of dogs with this condition.
