Abstract
The movement pattern and territories of troops of sykes monkeys is compared in two areas in relation to plantations of exotic softwood. Monkey troops showed similar patterns of movement which was governed by the availability of food resources. Sykes monkeys are territorial in behaviour. The sizes of the territories vary from 13.2 to 16.0 ha. The possible explanations of the factors that led other troops to do damage to forests of exotic trees is discussed.
