Abstract
It is argued that in the diffraction diagram of an incommensurate modulated structure only the satellite reflections are sensitive to the relative phases of the atomic modulation functions. The consequences of this fact on the structure refinement and the choice of structural parameters are discussed. Taking into account these considerations, the structure of the incommensurate modulated phase of K2SeO4 is determined from new experimental data. Keywords
