Abstract
RECENTLY polycythemia or erythrocythemia apparently associated with renal disease of several diverse types, including hydronephrosis,1 , 2 hypernephroma3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and renal adenoma10 and fibromyxoma,3 has been noted. To the best of our knowledge only 2 reports are available concerning the association of erythrocythemia and polycystic kidney disease.3 , 11 We recently studied a patient with polycystic kidney disease who presented originally as a diagnostic problem exhibiting a high blood urea nitrogen concentration, proteinuria, hypertension and a normal hematocrit. A normal hematocrit in the face of significant uremia was sufficiently unusual to prompt a study of the frequency of this association. It is the purpose of . . .Keywords
