Abstract
The genome size of Mycoplasma genitalium was determined by using restriction enzymes that infrequently cut its DNA. The calculated value of 577 to 590 kilobases is one-fourth smaller than the genome of Mycoplasma pneumoniae, which is considered among the smallest genomes of self-replicating organisms. Keywords
