Abstract
A photoionization detector (PID) with 9.5 and 10.2 eV lamps has been used in capillary chromatography in order to selectively detect and identify poly nuclear aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Identification can be made by comparing the relative response of the PID with that of a flame ionization detector (FID), thus yielding compound-specific response ratios. Serial and parallel detector set-ups are discussed, as well as the precision and accuracy of the method. Keywords
