Abstract
Synopsis Modifications to the Figg method for in situ determination of the air permeability of concrete are recommended. These are the use of a hole size of 10mm diameter × 40 mm deep with a silicone rubber plug 20 mm from the surface and a digital solid-state manometer. The time, in seconds, taken for a pressure change from 55 to 50 kN/m2below atmospheric is taken as a measure of the air permeability. A table of protective quality of cementitious materials is tentatively proposed. Keywords
