Abstract
It is shown that the Maruhn-Greiner theory of fission mass distribution and the statistical theory of fission are equivalent mathematically and physically. With the potential energy calculations employed similar to each other, the results of the two theories on mass distribution and its energy dependence are therefore very close to each other. Keywords
