Abstract
Absorption spectra of the B bands in alkali halide-thallium crystals have been investigated over the temperature range from 10°K to 300°K in KI–Tl, KBr–Tl and KCl–Tl. The integrated absorption intensities of the bands can be fitted well by coth ( h ν q /2 kT) law which is derived from the theory of the vibration-assisted absorption. Correlation between absorption intensities of the B and C bands with the variation of temperature was found, and it is concluded that the absorption intensity of the B band is supplied from the C band. Keywords
