Abstract
Drug abuse among young people was studied. One study included a sample of 2846 pupils from 17 secondary schools in Lagos, the other 300 patients were admitted to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for treatment of drug abuse. Among the secondary school students the major substances used were alcohol, barbiturates, CNS stimulants, tobacco, Mandrax [methaqualone and diphenhydramine] and cannabis.
