Resistance to Organophosphates and Carbamates in Anopheles albimanus Based on Reduced Sensitivity of Acetylcholinesterase12

Abstract
A high degree of insensitivity of acetylcholinesterase to inhibition by paraoxon and propoxur was demonstrated in 2 strains of Anopheles albimanus Wiedemann highly resistant to parathion and propoxur. The strains remained susceptible to fenthion and their acetylcholinesterase was of nearly normal sensitivity to fenoxon.
