Abstract
A method suitable for the estimation of Ca in 1 ml serum is described. Ca is precipitated as the oxalate, followed by removal of excess oxalate by oxidation with bromide-bromate. Ca is then titrated with Versene (ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid tetrasodium salt) using an indicator containing methyl red, diamine green and cresol phthalein complex. This method is compared with the oxidlmetric estimation of calcium oxalate with cerium sulfate, and the estimation of Ca by means of flame photometry; excellent agreement was obtained.
