AN UNUSUAL ASSOCIATION OF MULTIPLE MENINGIOMAS, INTRACRANIAL ANEURYSM, AND CEREBROVASCULAR ATHEROSCLEROSIS IN TWO YOUNG WOMEN

Abstract
An unusual association of multiple meningiomas and intracranial aneurysm with atherosclerotic ectatic changes of the cerebral arteries has been observed in 2 young women with progressive visual loss. The relationship of these abnormalities to each other may be coincidental; however, a dysgenetic defect cannot be excluded. The occurrence of atherosclerosis in young women is not only decidedly uncommon, but also certainly abnormal, and with these other lesions creates a peculiar syndrome. Von Recklinghausen’s neurofibromatosis could not be established in either patient.
