Abstract
A therapeutic trial of a pan-T monoclonal antibody is described in a patient with a low grade mature T cell proliferation and hemopoietic suppression. Non-complement fixing IgG1 antibodies were highly effective opsonins, and the dose required was estimated from in vitro studies. Therapeutic failure occurred due to the appearance of anti-mouse antibodies and not to antigenic modulation or reticuloendothelial blockade. The literature is reviewed, and the potential role of serotherapy in malignant disorders is discussed.
