Need of Operations in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Abstract
Summary The Rheumatism Foundation Hospital at Heinola has facilities for the combined medical and surgical treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. 1,227 operations were performed on 758 patients in an unselected series of 4,527 patients (only purely orthopedic operations are included). The need for surgery increases steeply with increasing duration of the disease, and it is definitely higher in females than in males.
