Abstract
Two types of ceramide 2-N-methylaminoethylphosphonates showing different chro-matographic behavior on thin layer chromatography were found in the viscera of Turbo cornutus. Relatively non-polar ceramide 2-N-methylaminoethylphosphonates were isolated from the viscera of T. cornutus by solvent extraction and were purified by silicic acid column chromatography and by mild alkaline hydrolysis. The ceramide 2-N-methylaminoethylphosphonates were degraded into ceramides and 2-N-methylaminoethylphosphonic acid by enzymatic hydrolysis with phospholipase C (Clostridium welchii) [EC 3.1.4.3]. The ceramides were analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry as their trimethylsilyl ether derivatives and the molecular species were identified as N-hexadecanoyl C16−, C17−, C18−, and branched C18−sphingosine and C18− and C22−spingadienine.Keywords
