Abstract
Pregnant Wistar rats received injections of epinephrine, of norapinephrine, or of saline during the second trimester. Members of a fourth group had normal pregnancies. Offspring from each maternal group were divided into 2 groups; one received normal laboratory treatment and the other received extra stimulation by mechanical rotation for 3 min. per day on Neonatal Days 2-5. Offspring were evaluated in the open-field test and on a simple maze problem at 30 and 60 days of age. Significant prenatal and postnatal treatment effects were revealed in both test situations and at both age periods.
