Technique for measuring magneto-optical spectra in ultrahigh magnetic field by means of an image converter camera

Abstract
A time-resolving optical spectrometer assembled with an image converter camera was successfully used for observing magneto-optical spectra of solids in ultrahigh magnetic fields. The ultrahigh magnetic fields up to 280 T were generated by compressing magnetic flux electromagnetically by theta pinch. Spectra of Faraday rotation, exciton absorption and Zeeman splitting in a variety of crystals were obtained in fields higher than 100 T. The temperature of samples was varied between 4.2K and room temperature.Keywords
