Abstract
Two heteroplasmic individuals were found during an intraspecific chloroplast DNA (cpDNA) restriction site survey of Coreopsis grandiflora (Asteraceae). Both individuals were in the same genetically variable population, in which only two distinct cpDNA haplotypes, differing by 19 restriction site differences, had otherwise been detected. Because these individuals were heteroplasmic for sites that distinguish the two distinct haplotypes, they almost certainly arose from biparental inheritance of the chloroplast genome following a cross between plants with distinct genomes. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
