Abstract
Leukocytes from normal female pigs and female pigs manifesting atresia ani were cultured. Chromosome counts and analyses were made using metaphase cells produced through such cultures. The normal complex is characterized by 19 pairs of chromosomes—6 pairs of acrocentrics and 13 pairs having centromere positions varying from median to sub-terminal. No difference was found between the karyotypes of normal female pigs and females manifesting atresia ani. Copyright © 1967. American Society of Animal Science .
