Abstract
LDL-apheresis is an extracorporeal plasma-perfusion method that selectively removes apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins from the blood. It is indicated for patients with homozygous and drug-resistant heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. Clinical and angiographic regression of coronary artery disease has been demonstrated in patients treated with cholesterol-lowering programs that include LDL-apheresis.Keywords
