Abstract
Lifetimes of levels in 40Ar populated by the 40Ar(p,p') reaction have been determined using the Doppler shift attenuation method with a p- gamma coincidence technique. A solid argon target was used. The lifetimes measured are as follows: 1461 keV level, 1.95+or-0.15 ps; 2121 keV, >25 ps; 2524 keV, 0.53+or-0.06 ps; 2893 keV, 4.4-1.3+2.6 ps; 3208 keV, -0.07+0.09 ps; 3919 keV, 0.44+or-0.06 ps; 4481 keV, <0.1 ps.Keywords
