Abstract
The study of the regularities that determine the relations among ethnic groups in contact holds a central place among the problems dealt with in empirical investigations of nationality relations in the USSR. Certain official statistical documents, including published census data, can provide an important supplement to the questionnaires usually used as the source of primary information.
