Abstract
Scales of the heliozoeans Pinaciophora fluviatilis Greeff and P. triangula Thomsen found in Ontario are compared with descriptions of these species from other parts of the world (P. triangula was known previously only from a single lake in Sweden). A new species, Pinaciophora pinea sp. nov., is described from a softwater lake in Muskoka, Ontario. Pinaciophora pinea differs from its closest relative, P. monopora Thomsen, mainly in the structure of the plate-scales which in P. pinea have a thickened rim between the central hole and the outer margin. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
