Abstract
Human cells infected with the Mason-Pfizer monkey virus (MP-MV) form syncytia when overlaid with human glioma cells transformed by Rous sarcoma virus (KC cells). This observation allowed the development of a plaque assay, the results of which correlated directly with those from measurements of viral reverse transcriptase in culture fluids and immunologic assays or one of the virion structural proteins. Keywords
