Abstract
The dc and the high‐frequency performance of a LiNbO3 prism light beam deflector is described. A method was devised for the detection and measurement of the high‐speed scanning laser beam. Optical demultiplexing of two simulated 37.5‐Mbits/sec PCM channels using the deflector is demonstrated. Optical multiplexing of two simulated 75‐Mbits/sec PCM channels is also demonstrated by using the same deflector in reverse. The crosstalk between the demultiplexed channels was measured as a function of the rf driving voltage. The salient features of the electro‐optic prism demultiplexer and multiplexer are discussed. This publication has 18 references indexed in Scilit:
