Abstract

A search has been performed for the lepton-flavor-nonconserving reaction

μ^{-}

+Ti→

e^{-}

+Ti using a time-projection chamber. No candidate events were observed, resulting in a limit of Γ(

μ^{-}

+Ti→

e^{-}

+Ti) / Γ(

μ^{-}

+Ti→capture) <1.6×

10^{- 11}

(90% C.L.) for this reaction relative to ordinary muon capture.
