Incommensurate modulations in highTcsuperconductors

Abstract

A brief survey of the observations of incommensurate modulations in high T_c superconductors is presented. In all known cases, the modulation is essentially confined to the planes supplying carriers to the superconducting planes. The possible mechanisms of the onset of the modulations are discussed.
