Abstract
The role of social support in compliance to medical regimen in elderly patients is described. It is hoped that the discussion will encourage nurses to further investigate the effect of social support and other variables on non-compliance in order that nurses might: (1) better explain and predict (assess) compliance behavior; and (2) suggest more effective strategies for improving compliance behavior in the chronically ill within the home health setting.
