The Antigenic Structure of Hemolytic Streptococci of Lancefield Group A

Abstract
Summary: The neutral sonic extract of group A hemolytic streptococci contains at least two serologically active components; one a nucleoprotein of broad reactivity and the other type-specific material probably related to Lancefield's “M” or “T”, or both. The qualitative reactivity of the broadly reactive protein is not affected by the presence or absence of nucleic acid.
