Abstract
Marijuana is the most widely used illicit drug in this country, with an estimated 12 million current users. 1 Marijuana (and other dosage forms of cannabis) have been used as intoxicants throughout the world for thousands of years. 2 One of the greatest concerns to society regarding marijuana is the behavioral toxicity produced by the drug. As is the case with alcohol, marijuana intoxication is often associated with impairments in sensory, psychomotor, and cognitive functions. The costs to society of marijuana-induced behavioral impairment are difficult to estimate, but are likely to be high, given the number of users of the drug and the activities in which some users engage while under the influence of the drug (e.g., attending school, driving an automobile, and working in a factory). This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
