Abstract
A model for the free enthalpy of mixing including association is proposed. It is shown that the entropy of the associates is proportional to the relative volume contraction of the solid intermetallic compound, the proportionality constant being equal to that for the relation between entropy and relative volume expansion on melting of simple metals and noble gases. Keywords
