Abstract
Paper partition chromatography technic applied to ultrafiltrates of pooled saliva showed the presence of 13 free amino acids in saliva. The acids found were: glutamic acid, aspartic acid, glycine, alanine, methio-nine (sulfoxide), arginine, leucine, lysine, phenylalanine, taur-ine, tyrosine, valine, and proline. The method is also capable of demonstrating peptides, one of which was probably seryl-glycylglycine. The technic has distinct advantages over methods previously used, in that all the amino acids present in saliva can be identified without interference of peptides or other nitrogenous products. Keywords
