Thin film superconductors grown by laser ablation of PbO and BiPbSrCaCuO

Abstract
The growth of thin films of Pb-doped BiSrCaCuO by laser ablation is described. We use for the first time, the laser ablation technique to ablate multilayers of both doped BiPbSrCaCuO and PbO. In common with other BiPbSrCaCuO films grown by alternative routes, the layers produced still require an ex situ annealing step, although in our case the presence of a nearby Pb-rich solid was not required. We find a mixture of both 2223 and 2212 phases in the films, exhibiting Tonset of 110K and Tzero of 81K.
