Restriction of Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 Replication in Oncornavirus-Transformed Cells2

Abstract
Replication of herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) was studied in various cell lines infected with and/or transformed by oncornaviruses. HSV-1 production was completely inhibited in calls transformed by sarcoma viruses of murine, feline, and avian origin. Replication of HSV-1 was only slightly restricted in cells infected with a murine leukemia virus. Associated with the HSV-1 restriction was a concomitant inhibition of viral DNA synthesis
