A snare was developed in Alberta for capturing coyotes (Canis latrans) alive because of the severe foot damage that often occurred when steel traps were used. At $1. 10 each, snares are less expensive but less efficient than traps. We snared 26 coyotes. We also caught 14 from autoboggans by running the coyotes until they tired.
